Everything on this site is written by working web developers, about the part of the web they spend their days inside: how a page is assembled and delivered, how media is encoded on the way, and what the code running in a browser can see while all of that happens.

How we write

  • Claims carry sources. Every statement about what a platform, browser or specification does cites that vendor's own documentation, with a line naming the specific claim the source supports. We do not cite blogs summarising a primary source, and we never cite our own properties as evidence for a fact.
  • Costs are named. An article that describes a technique also says what it degrades, what it exposes, and when a vendor change will stop it working.
  • Ownership is disclosed in the article. Where a page mentions something we own or used to own, it says so there, not in a policy page. Old disclosures become dated historical notes rather than being deleted.
  • No AI-generated images. Typography cards, diagrams and real screenshots only.
